Abstract
Purpose: Reconstruction documentary has different species, each of which has different capabilities in the reconstruction of reality and its effectiveness. In this research, we have presented the possibilities of each documentary of reconstruction in the reconstruction of religious scholars' traditions.
Methodology: Through library studies and observations of films, the data obtained by qualitative analysis method are explained by descriptive approach.
Findings: In the section of narrative possibilities, the biography of religious scholars can be cited as a topic in various types of reconstruction documentaries, including reconstruction documentaries from archival materials, drama documentaries, documentary dramas, and animation documentaries. We examined the characteristics of mise-en-scène, photographic image, editing and sound in the expressive possibilities of the reconstruction documentary in the reflection of the biography of religious scholars.
Conclusion: The documentary of reconstruction can create an influential work while being faithful to reality if the documentary maker has sufficient knowledge of the personal and social life of these elders and their period of life and sufficient knowledge of Islam as well as the recognition of Islamic arts.
