Abstract
Objective: This study examines the impact of social networks on how students spend their leisure time, with a particular focus on spiritual health and digital ethics among students in District 4 of Tehran.
Methodology: The research method is descriptive-analytical. The statistical population consists of 6,483 students aged 15–18, with a sample size of 362 selected using the Morgan table. Cluster and simple random sampling methods were employed. Three questionnaires were used: the Social Networks Impact Questionnaire, the Leisure Time Questionnaire, and the Spiritual Health Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation coefficients via SPSS version 22. The practical interpretation is as follows:
Findings: The findings indicate a significant negative relationship between the impact of social networks and the cultural and social components of leisure activities. In other words, the more students engage in leisure activities (cultural and social), the less inclined they are to use social networks and cyberspace. Furthermore, there is a significant positive relationship between leisure time and its components (reading and studying, art, cultural and social activities) and students’ spiritual and ethical health.
Discussion and Conclusion: The more students participate in the aforementioned leisure activities, the higher their level of spiritual health. Consequently, leisure time and its components have a moderate ability to explain and predict the variable of spiritual health.
